Capstone Mini Project
Color Sensing Tile Feeder

Our Senior Capstone Experience beings in the first semester of senior year at Boston University with a mini project to get the ball rolling. For this mini project, we started by meeting our classmates and forming teams of four or five. Once the teams were finalized we were all given a task to create a 3-stage tile feeding and placing machine. This proof-of-concept machine would serve as an easy way to create an image with multiple colored tiles that would be specifically placed on a 12x12 grid. The idea is that the first stage would be in charge of producing a machine in which you could load multiple colored tiles randomly into a feeder, and then have them sorted and dispensed by color to the second stage. The second stage would then go on to pick up the sorted tiles from their respective landing areas, and place them on the 12x12 grid for the third stage, whose job it was to create a mechanism to stick all the placed tiles onto a platform of sorts so the image would be displayed. 

Our team was given the task of stage one, and so we needed to come up with a color sensing machine that would feed the tiles nicely into stage two. We did this with a color sensor, two stepper motors, and some parts which included a chute for each tile to slide down.
